Please note the following points:

Deviation from the norm

In principle, our articles correspond to the specified standards. However, we reserve the right to deviate from the specified standards in terms of design and dimensions. Dimensions are altered when we see a technical advantage or manufacturing necessity. If exact specifications according to the standard are required, please contact our product management.

For Your Safety

As the pipe connection elements are occasionally subject to heavy loads such as vibration and uncontrolled pressure peaks, only original Schwer components should be used in accordance with the sf assembly instructions. Otherwise the functional safety can be compromised and lead to the loss of the warranty.

Pressure Specifications

The respective permissible nominal pressures (PN) can be found in the tables on each catalog page. Pressure is generally specified in bar and refers to water under static conditions. Under normal operating conditions (static) and at a temperature of 20°C, the operating pressure (PB) may be selected to equal the specified nominal pressure (PN) (see DIN 2401 Part 1).

The nominal pressure (PN) is a commonly used, rounded, pressure-related parameter. Operating pressure (PB): The permissible operating overpressure for a component is the highest internal overpressure, which is permissible for this component based on the material and the calculation principles at the permissible operating temperature during trouble-free operation. At elevated temperatures, the operating pressures (PB) must be reduced relative to the nominal pressure (PN) in accordance with the pressure derations applicable to the base material and the specific application as specified in the relevant standards.

If you have any questions or need assistance regarding the applicable standards and pressure derating factors, our technical support team is happy to assist you at any time.

European pressure equipment directive PED 2014/68/EU

Products with nominal diameters of more than 25 mm up to and including 32 mm must not be used for pumping Group 1 (hazardous) gases according to the Pressure Equipment Directive PED 2014/68/EU. Products with nominal diameters of more than 32 mm may only be used for pumping group 1 (hazardous) or group 2 (non-hazardous) liquid fluids according to the Pressure Equipment Directive PED 2014/68/EU. If used with other media, a review by Schwer Fittings should be requested.

QC Range (quick connect couplings):

All couplings are designed and manufactured according to Article 4.3 of the European Pressure Equipment Directive PED 2014/68/EU. Couplings with nominal diameters of more than 25 mm up to and including 32 mm must not be used for pumping liquid or gaseous fluids of group 1 (hazardous) according to the Pressure Equipment Directive PED 2014/68/EU. Couplings with nominal diameters of more than 32 mm may only be used for pumping group 2 (non-hazardous) liquid fluids according to the Pressure Equipment Directive PED 2014/68/EU. If used with other media, a review by Schwer Fittings should be requested.

Range Aq (Aquapress Pressfittings ball valves):

All ball valves are designed and manufactured in accordance with Article 4.3 of the European Pressure Equipment Directive PED 2014/68/EU. Ball valves with nominal diameters of more than 25 mm up to and including 60 mm must not be used for pumping group 1 (hazardous) gaseous fluids according to the Pressure Equipment Directive PED 2014/68/EU. Ball valves with nominal diameters of more than 60 mm may only be used for pumping group 1 (hazardous) or group 2 (non-hazardous) liquid fluids according to the Pressure Equipment Directive PED 2014/68/EU. If used with other media, a review by Schwer Fittings should be requested.

Statement from Schwer Fittings

Combining different coupling connections

When combining different coupling connections as well as different connectors and sealing materials within a line system, the lowest operating pressures and the lowest temperature limits apply.

Correct Assembly

For the pressure specifications given, it is assumed that the assembly is carried out properly and correctly. To do this, follow the sf assembly instructions. Likewise, when installing the pipe system, care must be taken to ensure that no additional loads and stresses act on the coupling connections.

Schwer Fittings Standard cleaning

As standard, the u2-Lok twin-ferrule fittings are supplied free of oil and grease (off) and individually packed in foil. A special multi-stage cleaning process with ultrasonic support removes oil and grease residues as well as loose particles, ensuring that the components meet the basic requirements of the industry.

When using oxygen, certain precautions must be taken to rule out the risk of fire. The cleanliness of the system plays an important role in preventing an oxygen fire. For such applications, we offer fittings in accordance with the "offO2" Schwer Fittings standard. This in-house standard defines the cleaning, assembly and packaging of stainless steel fittings in accordance with ASTM G93 Level C for all components in contact with media.

FAQ: Technical Information

What kind of quality management system does Schwer Fittings have?

Our quality management system is certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2015. In addition, we meet a wide range of industry-specific requirements, including for applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and mechanical engineering industries

Do Schwer Fittings' products comply with the specified standards?

In general, the products comply with the specified standards. However, we reserve the right to make design or dimensional deviations from the specified standards. Dimensions may be modified if we identify a technical advantage or a manufacturing necessity. If exact compliance with the standard is required, please consult our product management team.

What is the specified nominal pressure (PN)?

The respective permissible nominal pressures (PN) can be found on each page of the tables. The pressure is generally specified in bar and refers to water under static conditions. Under normal operating conditions (static) and at a temperature of 20°C, the operating pressure (PB) may be selected to be equal to the specified nominal pressure (PN) (see DIN 2401 Part 1).

The nominal pressure (PN) is a commonly used, rounded, pressure-related parameter. Operating pressure (PB): The permissible operating overpressure for a component is the highest internal&overpressure that is permissible for this component based on the material and the calculation principles at the permissible operating temperature during trouble-free operation. At elevated temperatures, the operating pressures (PB) must be reduced relative to the nominal pressure (PN) in accordance with the pressure derating factors specified in the applicable standards for the base material and the specific application.

When combining different fitting components as well as different fitting and sealing materials within a piping system, the lowest operating pressures and the lowest temperature limits apply in each case.

Could there be changes to the design and dimensions?

We reserve the right to make design and dimensional changes as well as price adjustments without prior notice. Product images on the Internet may differ from the actual goods delivered. Weight specifications are subject to change. We assume no liability for errors. For specific applications, please contact our product management team to find the appropriate solution.

Is there a statement regarding the EU Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED)?

Schwer Fittings manufactures and distributes products that fall under the EU Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED). Schwer Fittings takes these requirements into account during the development phase and implements them during the manufacture, approval, and placing on the market of the products. Products subject to mandatory marking are affixed with a CE marking by Schwer Fittings. All products delivered without a CE marking are either Category 0 pressure equipment as defined by the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED) or a so-called “simple” component that is not covered by the Pressure Equipment Directive. In both cases, the CE marking is prohibited by law.

The specific operating conditions and, in particular, the working media are of crucial importance for the correct classification of the products in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED). Please note our restrictions regarding the permissible working media on the respective data sheets for our heavy-duty fittings. If you have any questions or need clarification, our product experts are happy to assist you at any time.

Who should I contact if I have questions?

Our representatives (m/f/d) in the office and in the field are, of course, always happy to answer any questions you may have. If you don’t have our contact information on hand, you can find it on our website under “Contact.”
