Quick-release couplings for a wide range of applications

Quick-release couplings made of high-quality stainless steel from Schwer Fittings are becoming increasingly important for a wide range of industrial applications, as they can withstand not only liquids and gases but also aggressive media such as solvents, acids, bases, etc. The seals are made of Viton® as standard, but other sealing materials are of course used wherever the medium or operating conditions require it. The seals are made of Viton® as standard, but other sealing materials are of course used wherever the medium or the operating conditions require it.

The couplings are designed for almost all important applications in low pressure and up to pressures of 650 bar (even higher on request) and range from applications in mechanical engineering, process engineering, hydraulics, off-shore, safety engineering, firefighting, mould making, plant engineering, laboratory, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, laboratory technology, medical technology to high-purity applications. All couplings according to DIN ISO 7241.B are compatible with each other.

Flat-face high-pressure couplings, which can be actuated with virtually no leakage, are particularly suitable for safety-relevant connections where the medium must not be allowed to escape. The coupling is also secured against unintentional disconnection. Couplings that offer increased safety when coupled include screw couplings for the ranges up to 300 bar working pressure as well as for the high-pressure range up to 650 bar. They also have the advantage of being able to be coupled under pressure.

In the low-pressure range, different sizes are available with types that can be shut off on one side, both sides or open on both sides. A wide range of connection options are also available, starting with various standard internal and external threads, hose connections, connections for plastic hoses and combinations of these. Couplings with bulkhead fittings are available for attachment to mounting walls.

The nominal flow areas range from 6 mm2 to 1885 mm2. If the optimum solution is still not available from the wide range of couplings on offer, appropriate adaptations can be made to the coupling itself and adapters can be used to put together the right coupling. In addition, application-specific solutions are developed and realised according to given specifications.

For example, special clutches developed exclusively for sporty vehicles have already been developed, built and used in a damping system in cars. Other developments are being driven forward, such as remote-controlled quick-release clutches or clutches with position sensors.

The range of quick connect couplings is constantly being developed. In addition to standard couplings, the product portfolio now also includes quick-release couplings for special applications. From the beginning, special attention was paid to the development of coupling systems for the transfer of paints and solvents, as Schwer Fittings is represented worldwide in the paint supply sector with the self-developed and patented ECO screw connection.

The product portfolio has also been significantly expanded in the area of low-pressure couplings (up to 35 bar), which were previously only available in the nominal sizes DN 5, DN 7.4 and DN 10. In addition to the addition of a further nominal diameter to the delivery program, the nominal diameter DN 19, the selection of connection sizes for the quick-release couplings compatible with the EURO profile has been increased so that the entire thread range from G 1/8 "to G 1" can now be covered. In addition, all nominal widths have recently been available as bulkhead variants.

To make it easier to distinguish between several low-pressure couplings installed next to one another, the option of colored marking has been added to the delivery program. Here, the plug and coupling are each given a colored marking made from a patented, UV-curing composite ceramic that is embedded in the material.

The color marking process originally developed for medical technology is characterized by its high resistance to a large number of media and external influences, such as temperature loads. The colors red, green and blue are available as standard - up to 16 colors are possible on request.
